Iran’s ‘Tangle’ wins nom at Grand OFF filmfest

The Grand OFF filmfest in Poland nominates Iranian short animation ‘Tangle’.

The Grand OFF World Independent Short Film Awards in Poland has nominated Iranian short animation ‘Tangle’.

The award-winning animation, written and directed by Maliheh Qolamzadeh, has been listed among the five short works nominated for the Best Animation award at the 14th edition of the Polish event.

The rest of the picked films in this category are Germany’s ‘Butterflies in Berlin’, Portuguese ‘Kite’, Russia’s ‘MEtro’ and the UK’s ‘The Crossing’.

‘Tangle’ is about a girl’s experience of war.

It shows how a little girl has lost all her family members to a cruel war.

The short flick has been screened at a number of international film festivals and won some awards, including the Narrative Grand Prize at the ‘Short to the Point’ Film Festival in Romania and the best film award at the International Sretensky Orthodox Film Festival in Russia.

The Grand OFF World Independent Short Film Awards is a cultural event that draws attention to the phenomenon of independent cinema and gives it a proper rank, seriousness and prestige.

The latest edition of the Grand OFF is slated for November 23-28, 2020 in Warsaw, Poland.
